Connect Respectfully. Communicate Honestly. Build Meaningfully.
The Bafumbira Dating Platform exists to help people connect, develop meaningful relationships, and potentially find friendship, love, companionship, or marriage.
A good dating community depends on honesty, respect, responsibility, and safety.
These Community Guidelines & Safety Rules apply to everyone using the Bafumbira Dating Platform. They complement our Terms & Conditions and Dating Privacy Policy.
PART I – COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
1. BE HONEST ABOUT WHO YOU ARE
Your profile should represent you honestly.
Please:
- Use your real age.
- Use your own photograph.
- Give truthful information about yourself.
- Be honest about your relationship intentions.
- Do not pretend to be someone else.
- Do not create fake identities.
- Do not misrepresent your education, occupation, financial status, family background, or other important personal information.
You do not need to reveal everything about yourself immediately. However, information you choose to provide should not deliberately deceive other members.
Remember:
A good relationship cannot be built on a false identity.
2. TREAT PEOPLE WITH RESPECT
Every member deserves to be treated with dignity.
You should:
- Communicate politely.
- Respect different opinions and preferences.
- Respect people’s boundaries.
- Accept rejection gracefully.
- Give people time to respond.
- Avoid insulting or humiliating others.
- Avoid making assumptions about people based on their appearance, background, clan, location, education, occupation, or economic status.
You may not be compatible with everyone — and that is perfectly normal.
Rejection is not an invitation to insult, threaten, or harass someone.
3. RESPECT PERSONAL BOUNDARIES
If someone does not want to communicate with you, respect their decision.
Do not:
- Repeatedly message someone who has asked you to stop;
- Create another account to contact someone who blocked you;
- Pressure someone into a relationship;
- Pressure someone into meeting you;
- Pressure someone into sharing photographs;
- Pressure someone into sexual activity;
- Threaten someone because they rejected you.
No means no.
And sometimes silence also means that someone does not wish to continue the conversation.
4. TAKE YOUR TIME
You do not need to rush into a relationship.
Take time to:
- Communicate;
- Ask questions;
- Understand each other’s values;
- Establish trust;
- Verify important information independently;
- Discuss expectations;
- Decide whether you are comfortable meeting in person.
Be especially cautious when someone tries to create intense emotional attachment very quickly.
A person saying “I love you” very early does not necessarily mean they can be trusted.
5. DO NOT PRETEND TO BE IN LOVE TO GET MONEY
Romance scams are a serious risk on online dating platforms.
Be extremely cautious if someone you recently met:
- Suddenly tells you about a financial emergency;
- Says they need money for hospital treatment;
- Says they need money for transport;
- Says they are stranded somewhere;
- Requests money for a visa or travel;
- Requests money for school fees;
- Asks you to invest in a business;
- Promises unusually high financial returns;
- Asks you to receive or transfer money on their behalf;
- Asks for your bank or mobile-money account to conduct transactions.
Never send money simply because someone says they love you.
The Bafumbira Dating Platform does not guarantee the financial honesty of individual members.
6. KEEP SEXUAL COMMUNICATION CONSENSUAL AND RESPECTFUL
Members should respect each other’s sexual boundaries.
Do not:
- Send unwanted sexual photographs;
- Send sexually explicit messages to someone who does not want them;
- Pressure someone to send intimate photographs;
- Threaten to publish intimate photographs;
- Use sexual material to blackmail someone;
- Coerce anyone into sexual activity.
Never share intimate images of another person without their permission.
If someone threatens you with the publication of intimate images, preserve relevant evidence, stop engaging with the person where appropriate, report the account, and seek help from the relevant authorities or support services.
7. NO HARASSMENT OR BULLYING
Harassment includes repeated or unwanted conduct that makes another person feel threatened, humiliated, intimidated, or unsafe.
Examples include:
- Persistent unwanted messages;
- Insults;
- Threats;
- Sexual harassment;
- Body shaming;
- Stalking;
- Intimidation;
- Public humiliation;
- Repeated unwanted contact from multiple accounts.
Harassment is not acceptable simply because it happens online.
8. RESPECT CULTURAL DIVERSITY
The Platform has a strong connection to Bafumbira culture and identity.
Members may come from different:
- Families;
- Clans;
- Districts;
- Countries;
- Religious backgrounds;
- Educational backgrounds;
- Economic circumstances;
- Cultural experiences.
Cultural identity should be a source of connection rather than conflict.
Do not use clan, family, cultural identity, nationality, or place of origin to insult, threaten, discriminate against, or humiliate another member.
9. DO NOT USE THE PLATFORM FOR POLITICAL OR PERSONAL CONFLICTS
The dating platform is primarily intended for relationship and social connection.
Do not use it to:
- Organize harassment;
- Attack political opponents;
- Spread malicious accusations;
- Target individuals or families;
- Mobilize people against another member;
- Conduct personal vendettas.
Disagreements should remain respectful.
10. NO FAKE PROFILES
Fake profiles undermine the trust of the entire community.
Do not:
- Use another person’s photograph;
- Pretend to be a celebrity or public figure;
- Pretend to be another member;
- Create a profile for someone else without their authorization;
- Use deliberately false information to deceive people;
- Operate multiple accounts for fraudulent purposes.
If you discover a profile that appears fake, report it rather than confronting the person aggressively.
PART II – SAFETY RULES
11. PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Be careful about what you share online.
Avoid immediately sharing:
- Your home address;
- Passwords;
- PINs;
- Bank details;
- Mobile-money PINs;
- National identification numbers;
- Passport details;
- Private workplace information;
- Private family information;
- Other sensitive personal information.
Remember that information shared online can potentially be copied, saved, forwarded, or misused.
12. YOUR PROFILE DOES NOT HAVE TO REVEAL EVERYTHING
You control how much personal information you disclose.
You can get to know someone without immediately giving them:
- Your phone number;
- WhatsApp contact;
- Home address;
- Workplace;
- Financial information;
- Family contacts;
- Private photographs.
Move at a pace that makes you comfortable.
13. BE CAREFUL WHEN MOVING TO WHATSAPP OR OTHER PLATFORMS
The Bafumbira Dating Platform is not a WhatsApp group.
Members may choose to exchange contact information and communicate elsewhere, but this should be done voluntarily and carefully.
Once communication moves to another platform, the other platform’s own rules and privacy policies apply.
Do not feel pressured to move to WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, or another platform simply because someone asks you to.
14. VERIFY IMPORTANT CLAIMS
Someone’s profile may not tell the complete story.
Where something is important to you, consider reasonable ways of verifying it before making major decisions.
This may include claims about:
- Age;
- Marital or relationship status;
- Employment;
- Education;
- Location;
- Family circumstances;
- Business ownership;
- Financial circumstances.
Do not assume that information is true merely because it appears on a dating profile.
15. FIRST MEETINGS SHOULD BE SAFE
If you decide to meet someone you met online:
Choose a public place.
Examples include:
- A reputable restaurant;
- A café;
- A public recreational location;
- Another busy public venue.
For your first meeting, avoid isolated locations or being taken directly to someone’s private residence.
Tell someone you trust.
Let a friend or family member know:
- Who you are meeting;
- Where you are going;
- Approximately when you expect to return.
Where possible, arrange your own transportation.
16. DO NOT ALLOW SOMEONE TO CONTROL YOUR MOVEMENT
Be cautious if a person you met online:
- Insists on picking you up from home;
- Insists on taking you somewhere unknown;
- Becomes angry when you want to leave;
- Prevents you from contacting friends or family;
- Pressures you to stay somewhere;
- Attempts to isolate you.
You have the right to leave a meeting at any time.
Your safety comes before politeness.
17. NEVER SHARE FINANCIAL CREDENTIALS
Never give another member:
- Your ATM PIN;
- Mobile-money PIN;
- Banking password;
- Email password;
- Social-media password;
- One-time verification codes;
- Security questions or answers.
The Bafumbira Dating Platform will never require you to give your password or financial PIN to another member.
18. BE CAREFUL WITH INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Someone you meet romantically may eventually introduce you to an “investment opportunity.”
Do not invest simply because you trust or like someone.
Be particularly cautious about:
- Cryptocurrency schemes;
- Foreign-exchange schemes;
- “Guaranteed” returns;
- Unlicensed investment schemes;
- Pyramid schemes;
- Requests to transfer money;
- Requests to use your account to receive money.
Conduct independent verification before making financial decisions.
19. NEVER SEND MONEY TO PROVE LOVE
A genuine relationship does not require you to prove your love by sending money.
If someone says:
“If you really love me, you will send me money.”
Treat this as a warning sign.
20. WATCH FOR COMMON ROMANCE-SCAM WARNING SIGNS
Be cautious when someone:
- Falls in love unusually quickly.
- Avoids video calls or meeting in person without a reasonable explanation.
- Has stories that constantly change.
- Claims to be travelling or working abroad and suddenly needs money.
- Requests money for emergencies.
- Wants you to keep the relationship secret.
- Asks for your financial information.
- Sends you suspicious links or files.
- Wants you to receive or transfer money.
- Becomes angry when you question their story.
One warning sign does not automatically prove that someone is a scammer, but several warning signs together should make you cautious.
21. REPORT SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOUR
If something does not feel right, report it.
You should report:
- Fake profiles;
- Scams;
- Fraud;
- Harassment;
- Threats;
- Blackmail;
- Sexual misconduct;
- Impersonation;
- Unwanted explicit material;
- Requests for suspicious financial transactions;
- Other serious violations of these Guidelines.
When reporting, provide enough information to help the Platform understand the concern.
Do not deliberately make false reports against someone simply because you dislike them or because they rejected you.
22. BLOCK WHEN NECESSARY
If someone makes you uncomfortable, you do not have to continue communicating with them.
Where blocking functionality is available, use it when necessary.
You do not owe anyone continued communication.
23. IF YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE IN IMMEDIATE DANGER
The Bafumbira Dating Platform is not an emergency response service.
If you are in immediate danger:
- Move to a safe location if possible;
- Contact someone you trust;
- Contact the appropriate emergency or law-enforcement service;
- Seek appropriate professional or community support.
Do not wait for a Platform administrator to respond to an emergency.
24. PROTECT YOURSELF FROM BLACKMAIL
If someone threatens to expose your private information or intimate material:
Do not panic.
Where safe and appropriate:
- Do not send additional money or material simply because you are being threatened.
- Preserve relevant messages and other evidence.
- Record the username/profile information.
- Report the account.
- Block the person where appropriate.
- Seek assistance from trusted people or relevant authorities.
Do not retaliate by threatening or publicly exposing the person yourself.

PART V – YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
The Platform can provide tools, rules, and safety measures, but you remain responsible for your own decisions and interactions.
Remember:
Before communicating:
Ask yourself: Does this person appear genuine?
Before sharing personal information:
Ask yourself: Do they really need to know this?
Before sending money:
Ask yourself: Would I send this money if this person were not a romantic interest?
Before meeting:
Ask yourself: Have I taken reasonable steps to protect myself?
When something feels wrong:
Trust your instincts.
